Vases in Polish Pottery – Ceramika Artystyczna

Welcome to our collection of vases in Polish pottery – where traditional craftsmanship meets artistic expression. Each vase by Ceramika Artystyczna is a true piece of functional art, shaped and painted by hand using techniques passed down through generations in the heart of Bolesławiec, Poland.

This category offers a wide selection of shapes and uses:

  • Mini vases for single stems or small arrangements

  • Classic table vases for everyday use or centerpieces

  • Fireplace vases for cozy interiors

  • Outdoor vases for porches, gardens, or balconies

  • And most striking of all: large round-bodied floor vases – real statement pieces

From bold and colorful to soft and minimalist, every vase features unique, hand-painted designs – no two are exactly alike. Floral patterns, dots, hearts, and abstract forms are all created with brushes and sponges using the traditional Bolesławiec method.

Time and Craftsmanship: Creating a Round-Bodied Floor Vase

Producing a large Polish pottery vase is a multi-day artistic process requiring skill, patience, and precision:

  1. Shaping the Form:
The potter throws the vase on the wheel by hand – a physically and technically demanding step that can take several hours, especially for a 40 cm round-bodied floor vase.

  2. Drying:
The formed clay must dry slowly and evenly for up to 48 hours to avoid cracks or warping.

  3. First Firing (Bisque):
The dried piece is fired once at a lower temperature to harden it for painting.

  4. Hand Painting:
The most intricate phase. Skilled artists use brushes and sponges to apply the pattern entirely by hand – no stencils or machines involved. Depending on complexity, this step can take 6–8 hours or more.

  5. Glazing and Final Firing:
Once painted, the vase is glazed and then fired again at temperatures over 1,200°C (2,192°F). This gives the piece its durable finish and brilliant gloss.

Every finished vase is signed by the artist, confirming its uniqueness and authenticity as a collectible piece of traditional Polish pottery.
