Potato & Side Dish Bowls – Tradition Served in Polish Pottery

 Recipes with Organic Ingredients (Serves 4)

 

1. Mashed Potatoes (Puree ziemniaczane)

Ingredients:

  • 800 g organic potatoes (starchy)

  • 100 ml organic whole milk

  • 40 g organic butter

  • 1 pinch organic nutmeg

  • Salt, white pepper

Preparation:

  1. Peel and boil potatoes until soft.

  2. Heat milk and melt butter into it.

  3. Mash potatoes, fold in milk-butter mixture.

  4. Season with nutmeg, salt & pepper.

 Drink pairing: Vodka Żubrówka Czarna, Beer Żywiec Białe

 

2. Potato Dumplings (Kopytka)

Ingredients:

  • 700 g organic potatoes

  • 200 g organic wheat flour

  • 1 organic egg

  • Salt

Preparation:

  1. Boil potatoes, mash, and let cool.

  2. Combine with flour, egg & salt into a dough.

  3. Roll into logs, cut into 2 cm pieces, press lightly.

  4. Cook in salted water for 3–4 min until they float.

 Drink pairing: Vodka Chopin Rye, Beer Tyskie Klasyczne

 

3. Fried Potatoes (Ziemniaki smażone)

Ingredients:

  • 600 g organic potatoes (waxy)

  • 2 organic onions

  • 3 tbsp organic rapeseed oil

  • Salt, pepper, fresh marjoram

Preparation:

  1. Slice potatoes, fry in oil until golden brown.

  2. Finely chop onions, sauté separately.

  3. Combine with potatoes, season, and serve hot.

 Drink pairing: Vodka Belvedere, Beer Okocim Jasne

 

4. Braised Sauerkraut (Kapusta kiszona duszona)

Ingredients:

  • 500 g organic sauerkraut

  • 1 large organic onion

  • 2 tbsp organic butter

  • 1 tsp organic caraway seeds

  • 100 ml organic vegetable broth

  • Salt, pepper

Preparation:

  1. Sauté onion in butter.

  2. Add sauerkraut & caraway.

  3. Pour in broth, simmer for 30 min.

  4. Season with salt & pepper.
